They also make the more sedate but ever so utilitarian Magnum. What if we raced these two trikes across Michigan and evened the odds by adding a Bosch motor to the Magnum? Meet Wizwheelz executives Marshall and Mark who conducted such a contest this month and hear their exciting stories of this adventure.
Not to mention, they're virtually invulnerable to sabotage, as they can't be slashed, and their inner workings are protected both from malicious acts and from mud, dust and water by big metal plate covers. So they can also be made bulletproof for military vehicles. .

From a purely aesthetic standpoint, it gives the Taurus — a car once relegated to rental fleets around the country — a much bolder, more aggressive appearance, with wheel arches full of rubber and chromed alloy. On the performance end of the equation, larger wheels definitely provide better handling, thanks to their ability to put a larger contact patch in touch with the road.

  • How Do Wheels Work

Without a suspension system, the car’s wheels would hit a bump and move up and down perpendicular to the road surface. This vertical energy would be transferred to the car’s frame, which would pull the wheels away from the road before gravity takes over and slams the car down. The suspension system must be finely tuned using a combination of springs and shock absorbers to reduce these effects for a comfortable and smooth ride.

Among the very few prominent recumbent groups around the world precious few can boast of the long history of racing and designing bents as can the British Human Power Club. We’ll chat with club officers Alan Goodman, Barney Harle and Chris Hamilton about their full racing seasons (including the World HPV Championships), member’s unusual HPV builds and the early group history with founding member Dave Larrington. Also Dave Ashenbrener returns with an update on his “Lost Recumbent” AR-3 tilting trike which he has now produced and is available to purchase. Honza, Doug and Nina are back with their segments as well. Midwest Trike Demo Sale – February 27! Posted on February 26, 2021 by Larry Varney
I suspect that many of us have had problems when it comes to carrying “stuff” on our bikes and trikes. You may want to keep it simple – just a pair of bags that are connected by straps that lay across your seat. Or, you say that you already have some panniers, but either you can’t find a rear rack that will work on your bike or trike, or the ones you find are either too expensive, or maybe they won’t work with suspension. You may be on the edge of throwing up your hands in despair, and just stuffing things into your pockets. Don’t give up hope – I’ve got some possible solutions for you! The Acrobat doesn't exactly "reinvent the wheel," as the cliche goes, but it does improve upon it. Eliane Rozanes, one of the Acrobat’s engineers, said it has a built-in symmetrical and selective suspension system. In layman's terms, that means it takes the bumps so you don't have to.

  • Power Wheels Suspension

A business supported by Innovate UK has designed a wheelchair with suspension that is improving the comfort of users across the globe. From: Innovate UK and UK Research and Innovation Published 21 June 2019 A £24,000 Innovate UK grant in 2013 helped them to develop the loopwheel for wheelchairs, and a further £240,000 grant in 2017 allowed them to partner with other companies.

There are two basic types of vehicle suspensions: independent and solid axel. The main difference between these two is that both right and left wheels attached to the same beam i.e. solid axle, while independent suspensions make provision for one wheel to go up or down without affecting the other wheel.

They’ve also developed a more bullet-proof wheelset with 25mm of shock travel called Fluent B designed for urban bike share programs. It includes a dynamo front and an internally geared rear hub. Lastly, the Fluent E is an e-bike version with 40mm of stroke and an integrated proprietary rear hub motor.

Shock Absorbing Wheel

First developed to smooth the ride of people confined to wheelchairs, Israeli-based SoftWheel has taken their in-wheels suspension concept and refined it for a wide of cyclists. By essentially isolating the bicycle rim from the hub with a set of three tunable shocks with hydraulic rebound damping, the Fluent bike wheel is said to deliver an unmatched level of comfort, while maintaining ride control and stability, and actually reducing energy lost when riding over obstacles and surface irregularities. Take a closer look at options for city and even e-bikes after the jump…
