Without a suspension system, the car’s wheels would hit a bump and move up and down perpendicular to the road surface. This vertical energy would be transferred to the car’s frame, which would pull the wheels away from the road before gravity takes over and slams the car down. The suspension system must be finely tuned using a combination of springs and shock absorbers to reduce these effects for a comfortable and smooth ride.

They won a £24,000 Innovate UK grant in 2013 that helped them to develop the loopwheel for wheelchairs. A further £240,000 grant in 2017 allowed them to work with 2 companies, Strategic Simulation and Analysis (SSA) and Composite Braiding, to further develop the loopwheel to go faster and for use off road and on rough terrain.

Spotted at the Bespoked, UK’s handmade bicycle show, Loop Wheels should be getting things Kickstarter’d this week for their carbon fiber looped bike wheels. Details are pretty scant, but the obvious is the composite looped spokes that create three sets of springs between the hub and wheel.
Annual or bi-annual inspections of your steering and suspension systems should include: Inspecting your shocks for leaks, cracks or other damage; Looking for vehicle bounce, nose dives, squats or rolls; Spinning the tyres manually to see if there is any wobble, imbalance or uneven tyre wear; Checking for leakage from any of the steering components; Ensuring the tension in the power steering pump belt is correct; Bouncing the car to see if your shocks or struts are functioning correctly. Cases to consider: 1: Idle - the spring should be able to carry the rider with no deflection, other wise if u lowered the spring from the beginning making the ground to hub distance smaller than the horizontal radius, you might experience lifting. but if it can support i believe its good

Are there drawbacks? Yes. In the lowest suspension settings, mainly efficiency and dynamic, the ride is bouncy. On a very smooth highway, these lower settings handle very well. However, on more imperfect pavement, you’ll want to move to a higher setting. We find ourselves using comfort the most. To our eye, it’s just below the factory-height dynamic setting, low and sporting but with much less pronounced rebound.

The way the loop-ends overlap each other, it looks like that would give some lateral stability.
We put up with a lot from our pneumatic tires, from punctures and blowouts, to slashings and the certainty of relatively frequent, inconvenient replacements and giant piles of waste rubber. The current technology seems well overdue for a revolutionary overhaul, if you'll pardon the pun, and yet despite dozens of fascinating attempts to reinvent the wheel, nothing seems to have found traction yet. The spokes on a standard spoked wheel hold it in tension. If the spokes lose tension, they start to break and the rim will buckle. A Loopwheel is not held in tension by its springs.
