I put this bike together per the instructions. I rode it down my driveway and hit the brakes. When I did so the front tire instantly moved to the side and started rubbing the forks. I thought maybe I did something wrong so I read over the instructions and made the front wheel a little tighter. Still got the same result. Definitely going to try to return this thing. They can also ship much more cheaply, since the whole assembly can be broken down into bits that easily fit in a regular shipping container.

The gantry was to work by building a framework, with rails constructed from 1x1 blocks. The gantry X/Y axis arms are to traverse the rails with wheels. There would then be some pistons for the z axis, a rotor, and finally a landing gear for grabbing. All pretty straightforward stuff. On something like this, you do not want suspension on the wheels:

It's unclear at this point whether you'd lose any forward motion energy due to torque flex, but that can be tuned out of the system if required in any case. It's also unclear how much a pair of wheelchair-sized ASWs would cost at this point. We assume they're not cheap compared to a regular rim and tire setup.
