Due to the internal suspension, only about a 1/3 of the total weight of the wheel is un-sprung weight, actually lowering the weight that is 'seen' by the axle. I find it difficult to credit the coach moving down the hill with 20,000 - 40,000 lbs of motorhome pressing the jack pads into the earth. That assumes the jacks are rated for the full coach weight and don't break under the load. My 36,000 lb coach had 4 x 16,000 lb jacks, so I wasn't too worried. Back in the day some coaches had poor frame rigidity, especially up front, so the front cap and windshield frame would often twist if the front wheels came off the ground. My '96 Southwind (F53 chassis) was like that and I avoided ever lifting the front to even barely touching cause the windshield would start to move. My 2002 W22 chassis coach didn't seem to have any problem with that but I was still careful. My 2004 DP was stable as a mountain no matter how much it was jacked. Spent many a summer at my brothers home in SW PA with wheels off the ground. He lives on a hill side and the 2012 Tour never had a problem.

It does seem clear the Air Suspension Wheel is unlikely to take over as a car tire replacement any time soon. Ok, here they are! 18x9" +40mm offset. Wheels are gloss black with ball cut "machine" finish accents on the spokes. Front and rear fenders pulled to gain 5mm rear and 8mm up front approx. I'm utilizing the slotted upper strut mount for an additional -0.3 negative camber which also adds 3-4mm more tuck at the top of the tire. Good news however is NO POKE! ^^^Savings of 11 1/4 lbs per corner! Noticing improved acceleration...especially in 3rd gear for whatever reason. Not enough seat time in the car to give much more detail than that but I will say that when you run more "stretch" in your tire setup, your steering response time really quickens up as a result of the reduction in sidewall "deflection." U can go too far with that theory and encounter some negative handling traits so beware. I won't be lowering the car as I have a steep entry into my driveway. I also like the handling of the car in Sport mode with the Type R rear sway bar installed and would rather leave it alone as it is currently well balanced. Ok, on to the pics. However, we noticed Vossen’s own upgraded e-tron (see: Academic e-tron, p.36 Q3_2019) used 285/35R22. As it happened, this was the exact fitment that was already on these former Q7 fitted wheels. Given the 285/35R22 Toyo Proxes S/T tires were properly weight rated and that Vossen had experienced no problems, we decided to give them a try.

It’s important to note, that the axle is slightly wider than the tail of the frame. I widened the opening by grinding down just enough metal at the tail work a rotary tool to gain clearance. After that, it took no time to install. As an aside, this presents a perfect opportunity to change your brake pads as well. I was extremely hesitant to buy one of these wheel assembly kits. Many had reviews of non-spinning wheels or other horror stories, but this one did not. I took the jump, and it has worked out perfectly. No more back flats to worry about, and no loss to top speed! The ride is a little bumpier, but i only noticed the first ride or two. Slight decrease to total range as well, but that’ll happen. It fit my M365 perfectly, just had to adjust the brakes to fit this setup. I can not recommend this enough as a quick solution to eliminate flat tires as an issue. I am beyond pleased with my purchase

Big wheels and low profile tires make any vehicle look tough. For years, the aftermarket has provided wheels in the most gargantuan sizes possible, wrapping them in tires with sidewalls as thin as an o-ring. As beltlines rise, greenhouses shrink, and wheel arches become more pronounced, manufacturers are routinely shoeing their cars — even relatively sedate family sedans — with wheels 19 and even 20 inches in diameter. I'd change suspension first, then wheels.... but to each their own... ultimately it's up to you. you should always drop first... then buy the rims to fit accordingly... also, putting rims on a stock height car (i know somebody will be butt hurt over this) yeah dont make the same mistake i did... i totally regret getting rims 1st =/ ok .. but if i change my suspension accordingly to my 16 inch stock rims, then put on 19'zz i think it depends on what your unique situation is. if there are rims you really like, buy them and work around it. plus, if your facing winter every year, you do not want to be dropped too much, you'll be sliding all over since you will have a lower center of gravity and have more of a grip demand on your tires. if you drop it three inches, now you need to stick with a really high offset, so that will limit your wheel choices. i think it works the same way no matter what you do-suspension first will limit your wheel options...wheels first will limit your suspension options. do you want to be scraping low with small wheels, or keep it practical with bigger wheels, it's your choice!! in my situation, i really wanted a certain wheel which happened to have a low offset, so i can't lower it too much. i am also up against winter in new england, and shitty roads. so i knew i wasn't lowering too much, i just want to close the wheel gap. so i got the wheels i wanted, which are 19x8 +40 w/ 235/35 tires, learned i have about 2" in the rear and 3" up front to work with, and from there purchased the eibach pro-system-plus which will give me exactly what i'm looking for...improved handling, very little gap in the wheel well, and a lower than stock stance....done & done!! buddy thanks a million, i think u just answered my question, i have the same width rims and tires. i was wondering how much room i might have in order to figure the suspension.
