Seems like a lot of the aftermarket wheels are on lowered Supras, anybody here running aftermarket wheels with stock suspension? Unfortunately with my driveway and roads, lowering may not be an option due to the possibility of scraping. I feel others may be in the same boat so this may be a helpful thread. 2.1: Humps - if u roll over a hump, den the shock can make the hub offset.but if it maintain with the situation i wrote on top. then you'll have the case o rolling in a "something like a smaller wheel since the radius reduced" but will be fine, then after the humps, the wheels would recover the shape. here you'll still good

The University of Texas at Austin Center for Electromechanics (UT-CEM) has conducted a set of simulations and full-scale experiments to determine suitable shock load design requirements for in-hub (wheel) propulsion motors for hybrid and all-electric combat vehicles. The characterization of these design parameters is required due to recent advancements in suspension technology that have made it feasible to greatly increase the tempo of battle. These suspension technologies allow vehicles to traverse off-road terrains with large rms values at greater speeds. As a result, design improvements for survivability of in-hub motors must be considered. Defining the design requirements for the improved survivability of in-hub motors is the driving factor for this research.
When one wheel moves up it pulls up one end of the bar and the other end pulls up the other wheel, keeping the car level.
Loopwheel springs are made from a carbon composite material, carefully developed and tested to give optimum compression and lateral stability as well as strength and durability. Specially-designed connectors attach the springs to the hub and rim. The three loops in each wheel work together as a self-correcting system. This spring system between the hub and the rim of the wheel provides suspension that constantly adjusts to uneven terrain – cushioning the rider from bumps and potholes in the road. In effect, the hub floats within the rim, adjusting constantly as shocks from an uneven road hit the rim of the wheel. The spring configuration allows the torque to be transferred smoothly between the hub and the rim.

The arm may be broadened into a V shape with two pivots, either side by side or with the inner pivot slightly behind the front one - a semi-trailing arm. Trailing arms are usually found at the rear only. A trailing-arm suspension on a rear-wheel-drive car. "All right Cameron from here and today we're going to talk about some of the basics of suspension on a rear-wheel drive Volvo what the main components are where they are and what you should look out for. Here on the lift today we have a Volvo 242 so we'll talk about the main components on the front of it. First a lot of this is very much the same as you'll find on a Volvo 740 or a Volvo 940. As far as the front strut assemblies going and what the basic components are, even though they look a little different in those cars this should still give you a good idea of kind of where everything is and what it does. Looking also right here what you'll see is this, this is the sway bar end link bolts here to the control arm. This goes up and attach this to the sway bar right here which then goes across. Sway bars up you should be pretty familiar with on your car because it's IPD's flagship product and we've got huge upgrades for these that make the car handle ten times better and make it a whole new car. That's kind about it for the front it's a pretty basic suspension system there's just the control arm, ball joint, strut assembly, sway bar, and end link and the associated small pieces like control arm bushings that are here and here. Looking from the other side of the rear end of the car to show you some of the other components. We've just got a couple more pieces that complete the rear suspension system. This one is obviously the coil spring it is mounted on the back of the trailing arm here. If we follow that up we're going to see what is called the Panhard bar what its job basically is to locate the car over the rear axle. If you watch it here it bolts through the chassis of the car follow it down this way and it connects to a bracket on this side on the actual rear end. So, it's what is suspending it left to right and holding the car balancing it left to right over the rear end of the car. That's about it for the suspension very simple setup on these Volvo 740s and Volvo 940s are a little bit different but the basics are pretty much the same they use the same kind of components and hopefully, this helps you identify what's under your car you know what you're looking at any education is always going to help you maintain your car better. Things turn even further in the favor of the ASW system if you factor in punctures, blowouts, tire fires and how long a truck has to be out of service each year while those monster tires get changed. ASW treads are bolt-on, bolt-off chunks that can be changed with very little gear, without even jacking any wheels up, and done in sections during shift changes and lunch breaks so the truck's never out of service due to tires. They can also ship much more cheaply, since the whole assembly can be broken down into bits that easily fit in a regular shipping container.
