i think it depends on what your unique situation is. if there are rims you really like, buy them and work around it. plus, if your facing winter every year, you do not want to be dropped too much, you'll be sliding all over since you will have a lower center of gravity and have more of a grip demand on your tires. if you drop it three inches, now you need to stick with a really high offset, so that will limit your wheel choices. i think it works the same way no matter what you do-suspension first will limit your wheel options...wheels first will limit your suspension options. do you want to be scraping low with small wheels, or keep it practical with bigger wheels, it's your choice!!

I had to run a 12mm spacer in front to clear the caliper (which i thought it was going to clear, but sadly was wong) which made my rear fitment a bit weak compared to the front. so i had to compensate with a little 5mm spacer on the rear (still not sure whether to run a 5mm or 10mm spacer on the rear, i feel like 10mm would be really pushing it and will rub badly.) OK, after pouring through much of the other thread, I felt I spent so much time looking at setups that weren't relevant to what I was looking to do...which is stay on stock suspension. So this thread is dedicated to Aftermarket wheels on stock suspension. *List wheel make and model with offset and width as well as tire make/model/size. *Try to take pics showing "poke." That means refrain from turning the front wheels for the pics. Keep 'em pointed straight and try to get some shots down the side of the car that will help others make a decision. *If you've rolled, pulled fenders and/or used the slotted strut mounts for more tire/fender clearance that is ok, just let us know when you post your setup.

Rear Loopwheels are about twice as stiff as front installations, and wheels can be used both separately with a spoked wheel, or as a set, plus as the lone form of bike suspension, or in addition to suspension forks. At only around 0.7 pounds heavier than spoked equivalents, Loopwheels make for particularly appealing add-ons to folding bikes, most of which don't bother with suspension systems due to the weight and bulk they pile on.

According to Pearce, one of the advantages of Loopwheels is the fact that unlike a suspension fork, they can absorb shocks delivered not just from underneath or above but also from the front (as might happen when running into a curb head-on). He also admits that many other inventors have come up with designs for wheels with tangential suspension over the past hundred years or so, although he believes that today’s modern materials will allow his to work where others have proved impractical.
In 2013 we raised funding to get loopwheels into production by running a Kickstarter campaign. 178 lovely people pledged their support; some are listed here.
Ok, here they are! 18x9" +40mm offset. Wheels are gloss black with ball cut "machine" finish accents on the spokes. Front and rear fenders pulled to gain 5mm rear and 8mm up front approx. I'm utilizing the slotted upper strut mount for an additional -0.3 negative camber which also adds 3-4mm more tuck at the top of the tire. Good news however is NO POKE! ^^^Savings of 11 1/4 lbs per corner! Noticing improved acceleration...especially in 3rd gear for whatever reason. Not enough seat time in the car to give much more detail than that but I will say that when you run more "stretch" in your tire setup, your steering response time really quickens up as a result of the reduction in sidewall "deflection." U can go too far with that theory and encounter some negative handling traits so beware. I won't be lowering the car as I have a steep entry into my driveway. I also like the handling of the car in Sport mode with the Type R rear sway bar installed and would rather leave it alone as it is currently well balanced. Ok, on to the pics. Loopwheels are currently available in a 20-inch size for bikes and a larger size for wheelchairs. They are working on 26- and 29-inch wheels for bicycles. They are currently available as a retrofit for Dahon or Tern foldingbikes and have a 100mm front fork for the changeover. The wheels themselves cost $462 US while a Loopwheels folding bike will set you back $1,493.
