Loopwheels replace conventional bike spokes with a group of 3 springs made of carbon composites. Each wheel's spring trifecta works synchronously as a self-correcting system, with connectors that attach them to the hub and rim, and a configuration designed for optimum compression, lateral stability, and smooth torque transfer between wheel parts. The effects: increased comfort; reduced vibration; and easy riding. Also, they look pretty.
Like a regular pneumatic tire, the ASW is air-suspended, but in this case, it's not by an inflated tube. It's a full hub and wheel replacement that separates the outer tread and rim from the hub using a set of eccentrically mounted, pneumatic air cylinders.

When it came time for an upgrade, we wanted to stick with the OEM look of an Audi factory wheel. So, we went with the 22-inch 5-V Spoke Star design wheel in titanium finish from the SQ7. It is a handsome design from Audi Sport that first appeared on the last-generation RS 6 Avant and the titanium finish of the SQ7 application matched the titanium accents on the e-tron.

I'm looking to buy Enkei RPF1's. I am undecided if I should go with the 17 or 18 inch size for stock suspension. I am driving a coupe and have always felt the RPF1 visually looks 2 sizes smaller than they actually are, but I don't want to install coilovers yet - maybe in a few years, but not now. Over the winter of 2014-15, we’ve been developing and trialling our first 20 inch loopwheels designed especially for recumbent trikes. The springs are designed to cope with fast cornering and the particular forces of side-axles. We’re really happy with the results. Loopwheels-builder Graeme cycles the 12 miles to work on his trike most days – fitted with loopwheels, of course. He’s been pushing us to get these ready to share! We showed these new trike wheels at the Spezi show in Germersheim, Germany on 25 and 26 April 2015, along with another new design for trikes, with our own hubs and a disc brake fitting.

Jelly Products, based in Newark, Nottinghamshire, first tried the wheel out on a folding bicycle, but people very soon started asking if they could be made for wheelchairs.
According to Pearce, one of the advantages of Loopwheels is the fact that unlike a suspension fork, they can absorb shocks delivered not just from underneath or above but also from the front (as might happen when running into a curb head-on). He also admits that many other inventors have come up with designs for wheels with tangential suspension over the past hundred years or so, although he believes that today’s modern materials will allow his to work where others have proved impractical.
