Thats another issue im going to have is picking a tire size, do you think 1.5 is enough to be flush? The wheel allows for vertical compression but provides rigidity in the lateral direction. The LoopWheel technology can also be used for wheelchairs providing comfort for the user.
Loopwheels use an off-the-shelf bicycle wheel but removes the spokes in place of a spring system between the hub and the rim for integral suspension. That suspension is made up of three carbon composite springs that act as shock absorbers with 45mm of travel, cushioning the rider for a smooth and comfortable ride. Unlike standard bike suspension systems, it provides tangential suspension, allowing your ride to absorb shocks from all directions — even from the front and rear.
Note: When used for mechanical supports, load capacities of brackets, fittings and other supporting elements should be in compliance with the American Standard Code for Pressure Piping. Clamps are designed to be used with W, M, S & HP Shape beams, Standard C & Misc. MC Channels, Angles & Structural Tees. Clamps must be used in pairs where indicated. For beam clamps with HG finish, standard hardware is EG finish. For optional stainless steel hardware, please contact the factory for availability.

Might try the rotor idea. Would need to make the drive rotors on either side of each gantry arm on a group and set up some hotbar options for control, but it should work. Yeah, you're right in that I should have said 'sufficiently rigid' as if you set it too stiffly it will explode. Wheel suspensions are pretty stable. As mentioned above, cranking up the stiffness and forcing 1-2 wheels to do all the stabilizing... can lead to boom. If you spread out the load over more suspensions, there's less load on any given area, on both grids, which can lead to you being happier all around. (Repairs are a *CENSORED* on some of those moving devices)
The Loopwheels’ spring system between the hub and the rim cushions the rider from potholes and bumps in the road. It also reduces road noise by absorbing it, thereby reducing vibration through the frame—and into the rider’s arms and body. Because the suspension is inside the wheel, you don’t need fat tires to make the ride nicer. Instead, you can use high-pressure or puncture-resistant tires.

The spokes on a standard spoked wheel hold it in tension. If the spokes lose tension, they start to break and the rim will buckle. A Loopwheel is not held in tension by its springs therefore the rim is strong, double-walled, and less likely to suffer from buckling or fracture at the rim.
