The University of Texas at Austin Center for Electromechanics (UT-CEM) has conducted a set of simulations and full-scale experiments to determine suitable shock load design requirements for in-hub (wheel) propulsion motors for hybrid and all-electric combat vehicles. The characterization of these design parameters is required due to recent advancements in suspension technology that have made it feasible to greatly increase the tempo of battle. These suspension technologies allow vehicles to traverse off-road terrains with large rms values at greater speeds. As a result, design improvements for survivability of in-hub motors must be considered. Defining the design requirements for the improved survivability of in-hub motors is the driving factor for this research.

I don’t think it would affect the brake track. The wheel would flex on the bottom but would return to original shape and diameter when it rolled far enough to not be in contact with the ground. Have you ever had an oversized truck pass you and your vehicle sways from side to side? This is a sign of worn or weak shocks and struts. Weak, worn, or bad shocks and struts can cause very poor vehicle handling issues and ride comfort problems. This is because worn shocks and struts have lost the internal pressure and ability to keep applied pressure downward. This can cause excessive bounce and roll when hitting bumps or potholes, which can also lead to premature tire wear.
And it's not like I have some high dollar customer sport chair, either. I use a "Breezy". Street price of $575. About as cheap as you an go. They can also ship much more cheaply, since the whole assembly can be broken down into bits that easily fit in a regular shipping container.

The paper also discusses implications of these results on wheel motor design, leading to the conclusion that a realizable and feasible design goal for a combat vehicle wheel motor shock rating is 150 g's, with a 10 to 20 ms pulse width.

I sent this bike back, the customer service from both amazon and schwinn, were impeccable, so much so, that I'm going to order another one, and hope it's not defective. My fingers are crossed, and I'll post again when the next one comes. maybe a bit expensive but good simple bike. I ordered 2 and for one of them the front wheel was really untrue, I had to replace it (Amazon was amazing with this).

Just purchased a 2nd Traxion for my wife; after she borrowed mine she had to have one. This one arrived in perfect condition via UPS. Had to fine tune the brakes and shifters but that is easy. The people here having pedal/crank problems are causing the problem themselves by installing them dry and severly over tightening them. Put a little grease on the threads and take them down to just beyond finger tight. They are threaded opposite of the crank rotation and will not back out, and if you ever need to replace them they'll come out easily without seizing or galling. Great bike for the money!

The Acrobat doesn't exactly "reinvent the wheel," as the cliche goes, but it does improve upon it. Eliane Rozanes, one of the Acrobat’s engineers, said it has a built-in symmetrical and selective suspension system. In layman's terms, that means it takes the bumps so you don't have to.
“First of all, it is symmetric to absorb shock in any direction," Rozanes told From the Grapevine. "Second, selective suspension means if you drive normally on flat surfaces, there’s no suspension unless encountering an obstacle."
